Singing and dancing its way across the UK, the Umbrella Flashmob was a performance intervention, produced by Compass Presents, in celebration of the BFI Musicals Season.
In collaboration with Watershed in Bristol, HOME in Manchester, and Chapter in Cardiff, we worked with local communities and dance experts to create a joyful public space take-over, a mass umbrella dance to the classic song Singin in the Rain, outside cinemas across the UK.
The flashmobs were a creative and joyful way to kickstart the BFI Musical season’s marketing campaign, and to spotlight community groups and independent venues in different cities.
