The Box Shorts
Following the success of ‘The Box Shorts’ in 2021/22, we’re pleased to again be working alongside The Box Plymouth to bring a special archive film to screens across the South West. This time we’ll be celebrating the weird, wild and wonderful traditions of the West Country.
Our quest is to connect local audiences to their communities, landscapes and histories and engage all cinema audiences in culturally rich and compelling archive content from the West of England. We are pleased to offer this opportunity to enhance the viewing experience of your audiences with no impact on your budget or workload.
To find out more information, watch the short film and, to book, read on.

About The Box Shorts
The initial Box Shorts project was a joint venture between expanded cinema practitioners Compass Presents and The Box Plymouth. This activity was funded by the Film Audience Network (FAN). Taking place in 2021/2022, a series of archive films celebrating the seasons were produced, plus one special edition film in partnership with the TATE St Ives.
This partnership resulted in four original archive edits played out in 59 venues across the UK to almost 8000 audience members, deeming it a roaring success. Having worked extensively with archive film footage, both traditional exhibition and more experimental presentations, Compass Presents are on a quest to increase access to archive film and give it a platform that enables audiences to connect with their moving image heritage. Continuing this quest alongside The Box Plymouth, we are pleased to now revive The Box Shorts in 2023 with this special edition. Supported by BFI with funds from the National Lottery.
