On the Rocks was the first ever cinema screening at the world famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall, renowned for its iconic location perched on the cliffs above the Atlantic Ocean.
This dramatic location formed the backdrop for a special outdoor screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s Jamaica Inn. The evening included an archive trail, where the cliff faces and rocks of the open air amphitheatre were animated with film and projection, telling stories of Cornwall’s notorious smuggling heritage, maritime wrecks of the South West, and interesting encounters with the Cornish heroine Daphne Du Maurier. The audience then settled down to watch Hitchcock’s thrilling pirate caper set along the recognisable rugged Cornish coastline.
