Can I take part if I don’t live in South Bristol
Yes! Anyone in Bristol (with a BS postcode) is eligible to win a ‘watch along’ pack, and anyone at all, wherever you are, is welcome to join in!

As the local community creating the event hails from South Bristol, the event takes its inspiration from there. The group want to shine a spotlight on their ‘hood with an event that is ‘South Bristol Style’, but open to everyone. The challenges can be completed in whichever area of Bristol you live. To ensure this event is covid compliant, we ask that you don’t travel outside of your local area to complete the challenges, in line with government guidance. This is a chance to discover and celebrate the wilder side to your own ‘hood.

Depending on where you rent the film, this will cost you between £2-£3.49. The rest is free! If you, like many of us at the moment, are in financial difficulty and cannot afford this, please do send us an email on [email protected], as we have funds set aside for subsidies.

Watch Along Packs

What is a Watch Along Pack?
Watch Along Pack is a box of goodies chosen to enhance your enjoyment of the film. The first 25 people to complete all of the challenges will win a pack.

How do you decide who wins a pack? Is it random selection?
To make winning the pack as fair as possible, the first 25 people to complete the challenges will win a pack. We ask everyone to send in evidence to show they have completed the challenges, so we can keep determine who finishes first, therefore we recommend sending us your photos of completed challenges as soon as you have taken them!

What’s in the Watch Along Pack?
Some goodies and activities that our group has chosen especially to enhance your viewing of the film. We don’t want to spoil the surprise. We hope you enjoy our gift!

Is the pack vegan/ halal/ kosher/ gluten free/ lactose free/ suitable for those with allergies/ intolerances?
Unfortunately the pack is generic and includes food items from the film, so we cannot cater to individual needs. If you win a pack and have a severe nut allergy please let us know and we will not include items that may contain nuts in the pack. Ingredients will be clearly labeled.

Can I win a pack if I don’t live in South Bristol?
If you live anywhere within the City of Bristol you can win a watch-along pack. You must have a BS postcode. If you live outside of Bristol you can still take part in the challenges and watch the film with us, but you will not be eligible to win a watch along pack. Our budget doesn’t stretch to postage, and so we will be personally delivering packs to winners, so we need to keep this local to make it feasible. Whilst everyone is welcome, we are also celebrating Bristol’s local people and local places.

If I win a pack, how will I receive it?
If you are one of the first 25 people to complete your challenges and send your evidence, your pack will be delivered to your home by April 10th, ready for the watch along. The team will be in touch by email to arrange this.

Can I get a pack without doing the challenges?
Unfortunately not, we only have a limited amount of watch along packs, so we have tried to make receiving one as fair as possible by asking people to complete all of the challenges. The first 25 people to complete all of the challenges will win a pack.

Why can’t everyone have a watch along pack?
We would love to give everyone a watch along pack! However, we were given a certain amount of budget from for the project and so to stick within this budget we could only create 25 packs. This means the event (apart from renting the film) is free and accessible to everyone. We also wanted to introduce an incentive/ element of competition!

Is there an age advisory for the watch along pack?
The pack can be enjoyed by all ages. Children under 5 should explore the pack under the guidance of an adult.

About the Film

Where can I find the film?
You can rent the film on Amazon Prime (you won’t need a Prime subscription to do this just a free Amazon account – £1.99); Google Play (£2.49); and YouTube (£2.49). You can also watch a trailer for the film in all these places.

What is the run time for the film?
1hr 41min

How do I know when to press play?
We invite you to press play at 7pm to join the watch along party, so just keep an eye on the time, and on our social media where we will be gathering before, and set a reminder if you need to! But if you can’t make it at that time, you can watch the film whenever suits you.

How do I know other people are watching along with me?
They will be! You can also connect with other audience members via social media using the hashtag #BristolWilderPeople.

How old should my child be to watch the film?
The film rated 12A in the UK meaning it contains material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12A. In a cinema a child under 12 would not be able to watch a 12 rated film without being accompanied by an adult. You can read more information about the certification type here and about age-appropriate content in the film Hunt For The Wilderpeople here.

What if I can’t make the date of the watchalong?
Don’t worry, you can watch the film anytime! We have invited people at a certain time to our watch along party so that we can feel connected to each other as we watch, as we can’t gather in person.

Why do I have to source my own copy of the film?
Unfortunately, film licensing hasn’t yet caught up with COVID! We can’t license the film to share with you on your device at home. Therefore you need to source it yourself.

I can’t afford to source my own copy of the film.
That’s okay, we have a small about of budget set aside to cover the cost of the film for people in your position. Email [email protected].
