9th October 2021, from 12pm
In celebration of the BFI’s Japan season, coinciding with the Japan Olympics and Paralympics, expanded cinema practitioners Compass Presents are programming a day-long celebration of Japanese cinema and celebration on Saturday the 9th of October with events taking place in Millennium Square from 12:00 until 23:00, with a special ticketed screening and food pairing taking place at the Watershed at 18:20.
The day-long celebration will feature live Cooking demonstrations, Taiko Drumming, cultural workshops and games, as well as full length feature screenings of acclaimed Japanese films including; Our Little Sister (CERT. PG, 2016) and Your Name (CERT. 12, 2016).
This event is screening as part of Japan 2020: Over 100 years of Japanese Cinema, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.

Tampopo + Ramen Noodle Supper
9th October, 18:20 – Watershed. Cert.18
We’re delighted to bring this very special screening and food pairing of Juzo Itami’s ‘Ramen noodle western’ Tampopo (1985) to Watershed, with the food provided by local ramen chef Mr Noodle. The screening will also include an introduction from Japanese restauranter Liam Chawdhary (Kansai Kitchen). Tickets are £16.50 per head. For concessions and more event info, visit Watershed.
