A day-long celebration of Japanese cinema, food and performance

In celebration of the BFI’s Japan season, coinciding with the Japan Olympics and Paralympics, we programmed a day-long celebration of Japanese cinema and culture with events taking place in Millennium Square via the We The Curious Big Screen, with a special ticketed screening and food pairing at the Watershed.

The day-long celebration featured live Cooking demonstrations, Taiko Drumming, cultural workshops and games, as well as full length feature screenings of acclaimed Japanese films including; Our Little Sister (CERT. PG, 2016), Your Name (CERT. 12, 2016) and Tampopo (CERT.15, 1985).

This event is screened as part of Japan 2020: Over 100 years of Japanese Cinema, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.
