ARCADIA @ Boiling Wells

  • Cinema, Expanded Cinema, Interactive

“In a hidden corner of Bristol is an ancient piece of land. Amidst ley lines and hidden wells, deep underground, old secrets are buried…”

Join us for an expanded cinema screening of the BFI’s newly released folk-horror feature Arcadia; an experimental, visceral archive experience exploring our relationship with the land. The film, powerfully scored by Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Will Gregory (Goldfrapp), has been playing cinemas nationally but is now presented in a pagan paradise, within an environment that fully resonates with the films central themes.

Before the screening, explore the wild gardens of Boiling Wells, and discover the secrets hidden within. Then take your seat under the stars in the outdoor amphitheatre, ready to travel through the seasons in this beautiful, brutal, magic and mad portrait of rural Britain.

Brought to you by Compass Presents as part of Encounters Film Festival, in collaboration with Common Ground and Watershed.

Where: Boiling Wells is located near the St Werburghs City Farm on Watercress Road, Bristol, BS2 9YJ.

After you emerge through the first tunnel and approach the farm, continue straight ahead along Mina Rd. Your experience will begin as you enter the second, spooky tunnel…
