On The Rocks

Compass Presents and Watershed present ‘On the Rocks’, an expanded cinema screening at the world famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall, renowned for its iconic location perched on the cliffs above the Atlantic ocean.

The dramatic location forms the backdrop for a special outdoor screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Jamaica Inn’. This little-known classic film adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s 1936 novel has recently benefitted from a 4k restoration enabling contemporary audiences the opportunity to experience this film in its full glory for the first time.

The evening consists of a film screening and an archive trail, where the cliff faces and rocks of the open air amphitheatre will be animated with film and projection. The audience then settled down to watch Hitchcock’s thrilling smuggling caper set along the recognisably rugged Cornish coastline.
